Nearly a month after the Wizards concluded the regular season, the team has still been extremely quiet about its plans for Coach Randy Wittman.

A source with knowledge of the Wizards’ thinking recently described the situation as "an ongoing process," adding that the team has no timetable to make a decision. Wittman and his assistants are still under contract for next season, lessening the urgency. But the silence – and lack of aggressiveness in pursuing other potential candidates – has raised speculation amongst agents and rival league executives that they all will be brought back.

Another day of organized team activities has ended with another significant injury for the New York Giants.

Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks broke his right foot running a route today and is expected to have a pin surgically implanted Friday. The Giants say they expect that he’ll need about three months to recover, which would put him in doubt for the season opener Sept. 5. It wasn’t immediately clear how Nicks was hurt because the OTA was not open to members of the media.

The Nationals and Braves are starting their showdown series tonight against Tim Hudson, historically one of their toughest opponents. In 23 starts against Washington, Hudson is 14-3 with a 2.05 ERA. On the season, he’s 3-1 with a 3.03 ERA. Ross Detwiler will try to solidify his spot in the rotation with Chien-Ming Wang now healthy. Talk about the game right here.

Nationals left fielder Michael Morse played in his first extended spring training today in Florida, and on Monday he will begin a rehab assignment at Class A Potomac, Manager Davey Johnson.

Morse has been sidelined all season with a strained lat muscle, but the Nationals’ projected cleanup hitter, a slugger who hit 31 homers last season, is nearing his season debut. In an extended spring training game today, Morse hit a home run center field, hit a single and flied out to right.
