Main Reasons

1. Corrupted or outdated drivers - Update your drivers from official sites.
2. Corupt print job causing this? First Stop the spooler service and then go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Drivers\w32x86. NOW delete any files in there and then restart your print spooler
3. Print spooler service is set to manual
4. Virus/spyware - Scan your computer with a good antivirus.

Solution 1

Remove previously installed corrupted drivers from your system then install a fresh new copy of drivers form the Printer CD/DVD.
How to remove corrupted drivers -

1. open regedit (start - Run - Type regedit and click OK ).
2. Navigate your way to navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Drivers

ISSUE

SOLUTION
Method1

1.Go to Programs and Features in Control panel .
2.Click Turn Windows features on or off .
3.Click + sign of Print services.
4.Select LPD and LPR , remove Internet Printing Client .
5.Restart the system to ensure there is no error of spooler service.

Method 2: Need to go into Windows Registry Editor and delete some printer driver subkeys, try to backup your registry database before you continue.

1.Click Start menu, type regedit in the search field.
2Navigate to the follow key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SYSTEM / ControlSet001/Control /Print/ Environments/ Windows NT x86/Version -3/

3.Remove all the printer keys here.
4.Exit regedit
5.Restart the print spooler service.
6.Reinstall the printer drivers.

You might encounter the error "Spooler Subsystem App stopped working and was closed" in Windows XP and Windows Vista, And the printer is usually HP which causes the printer spooler to stop.

Main causes of Printer Spool Errors -

• You computer might have been infected by a trojan or virus. Thoroughly Virus scan your system with your antivirus.
• Spooler service was stopped by accident or is turned to Manual or Disabled mode.

Check the windows service

1. Click on start > Run and type in services.msc and hit enter.
2. Scroll down to the "Printer Spooler" service, Right click on this service and select start.
3. Click the general tab and make sure the service startup is set to automatic,
4. Click on the recovery tab and select "Restart the service" for all three drop down boxes.
5. Now if the spooler subsystem app stopped working your system will try three times to restart the printer spooler service.

Turn off Internet Print Client

1. Click Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features,
2. In the left side, Click "Turn Windows features on or off"
3. Click + sign of Print services,
4. Check Mark and select LPD and LPR.
5. You should remove the check box against "Internet Printing Client". Restart your PC.
6. Then click start > run and type in eventvwr and hit enter.
7. Now search the logs for any spooler errors you might have

Uninstall and Re-Install Your Printers

1. Deleting and re-installing your printers will "Refresh" the printer settings.
2. Click Start > Control Panel > Printers >
3. Right Click on all printers one at a time and select delete.
4. Then add each printer back one at a time printing test pages if possible after you add every printer to see if the Subsystem App stopped working and was closed error comes back.
5. If the error does come back for a certain printer try to update the drivers as per below.

Update Printer Drivers

1. Take a look at what driver your printer is using,
2. Click Start > Control Panel > Printers >
3. Right Click on all printers one at a time and select properties.
4. Note down what driver the printer is using.
5. Now download the latest driver for that printer and install it on your computer.

Quick Tip For Vista Users

Sometimes Vista turn off LDP port after installing new printer driver and leaves only Internet client port only. That is why the printer spooler service failed to start.

Follow these simple steps -

1. Go to Programs and Features in Control panel.
2. click Turn Windows features on or off
3. click + sign of Print services
4. Select LPD and LPR.

These routers come with really poor power adapters that are 1) energy inefficient, and 2) overheat. Notice the reviews for failures; most of them come from power failures. Mine was the same. AT&T oversold it to me when I added a DSL line upon moving to my apartment. The router fried about 1 month after the warranty expiration. The power supply itself is 5.1V ... now, how often do you see 5.1V adaptors out there? As if they couldn't engineer the thing to interchange with a $2.00 5V adaptor instead of shilling for $10 to AT&T for a replacement. More to the point, the wireless network portion is an 802.11g router - meaning it's an older slower technology. If you're going to buy a wireless router nowadays, you should get a faster 802.11n router, which should be back-compatable with 802.11g hardware. Why are they shipping 802.11g routers nowadays when 802.11n has been official since September, 2009, and widely available since summer, 2007? Not to mention, for the money you spend on this router, you could purchase an identical one with 1) print-server capabilites (meaning you could attach a printer to the router allowing anyone on your wireless network to attach to the router) and/or 2) a port for Network Attached Storage (a backup hard drive or media disk you can avoid attaching and de-attaching to your computer). It also doesn't have the, ahem, ease of use that dodge most makers of routers. Compare Apple's AirPort to make the router function as a bridge (basically a way to extend a wireless router by using it to relay or boost the signal from another router). On an Apple router, you click a box saying "enable bridge mode," on this, you enter VPI 0, VCI 35, disable PCI search, change the connection type, and disable routing...and remember to press save. The security settings are really funky. I don't envy DSL providers, as it is a tricky technology, but if you ever want to use a service to connect to your computer from the outside world...forget about it. No VPN, no Slingbox, no Back-to-my-mac, no run your own home server, no dynDNS, no zeroconfig...ok, it CAN be done...but the success reports on google are about as common as good reviews of this router/modem/gateway. Also, if you have a mac, there are frequent reports of hardware compatibility with this router - really, only due to the way-out-there-bizzare default settings. see the discussion at ([...]) By the way, when this fried, I just wanted to get a DSL modem and use my own wireless router (base station). AT&T's next branded DSL modem down cost $70.00 (basically without the wireless network). Now, it had the same specs as another one in the store for $50 that didn't have the special AT&T logo. I got the non-logo one, plugged it in, and it worked perfect. When I did so I discovered my DSL connection was much, much faster. Also, I didn't have any problems with losing my connection every evening at about 11:45 for about 40 minutes without fail. I had this problem when connected to this 2wire router both wirelessly and wired. I am not a conspiracy theorist by nature, but I did study networking and I can't help but think AT&T makes use of this branded router to shape and limit network traffic.

This 2Wire wireless modem did not come with any needed wires luckily I was just replacing an old modem and already had the needed cords. Other than that my order came 3 days after ordering in great shape. No software came with it and is not needed. I plugged it into my computer and it went right to the 2Wire site and the site walked me through the needed steps to install other computers to my network using 2Wire adapters. This company KikaEnterprises though Amazon has the lowest prices on used and refurbished 2Wire wireless modems I have found. I would have had to pay 90.00 new at the brick stores. I have this modem upstairs in my apartment the grandkids each have an adapter on their computers downstairs in my son's apartment and it is working flawlessly.
